A Finder Item building block opens a Finder item using the item's default application or a specific application.
A Finder Item building block has one ON/OFF input and one ON/OFF output. When the input value turns ON, ControllerMate will open the building block's Finder item, then turn its output value ON.
To configure a Finder Item building block, click the Select… button and browse to the desired Finder item, or drag an item from the Finder to the Inspector window. The block can store a reference to the file as an absolute path, or as a path relative to the current user's home folder. Using a path relative to the home folder may be more useful when the programming will be exported for other users.
The building block can be configured to use the default application for the given Finder item, or a specific application using the popup menu in the Inspector window. The popup menu will identify the applications that OS X indicates are capable of opening the Finder item. An application that does not appear in the popup menu can be selected by choosing Choose other application… from the menu and browsing to the desired application.
In the example above, the building block will use Pixelmator to open ControllerMateIcon.png.
