Friday, November 11, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces an update to ControllerMate. Version 3.4.4 now starts up properly when a user has a Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5000 attached. Users of other Logitech devices who experienced “hangs” when starting up ControllerMate may also now see improvement.

Version 3.4.4 is a recommended update for users attempting to use ControllerMate with Logitech devices.

ControllerMate v3.4 Update Released

Saturday, September 3, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces an update to ControllerMate. Version 3.4 includes improvements to the Text and Keystrokes building blocks.

By default, ControllerMate produces keyboard output at a very, very fast rate. Applications that scan the keyboard at a fairly slow rate may partially (or completely) miss ControllerMate’s keys. By using the new speed control on the Text and Keystrokes building blocks, you can slow down ControllerMate to give these applications a better chance of seeing the keys.

Version 3.4 is a recommended update for ControllerMate users who have applications that don’t seem to respond to ControllerMate’s keys.

ControllerMate v3.3.1 Update Released

Tuesday, August 30, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces an update to ControllerMate. Version 3.3.1 includes one new type of building block and a bug fix.

The Button Group building block allows users to combine any number of buttons on a controller into a single building block. The output of this block can then be configured to turn ON either when all of the selected buttons turn ON, or when any of the selected buttons turn ON. As with any other building block that represents controller buttons, axes, or hatswitches, the Button Group building block can be used in combination with modifiers.

Also, v3.3.1 restores proper operation for certain non-US keyboard layouts. Keyboard layouts known to have been affected — and which have now been corrected — include the Finnish, Portuguese, and Canadian keyboard layouts.

Version 3.3.1 is a recommended update for all ControllerMate v3 users.

ControllerMate v3.2 Update Released

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces an update to ControllerMate. Version 3.2 includes changes to a couple of the existing building blocks:

  • Multi-input logic building blocks (AND, OR, XOR) can now be configured to have 2, 3, 4, or 5 inputs.
  • The output from Auto-Repeater building blocks is ON 50% of the time and OFF 50% of the time. Previously, the output was normally OFF with a brief ON pulse at the time when it repeated.
  • An “Application” key has been added to the Keystrokes Palette window. Some PowerBooks are capable of generating this key with the fn-enter key combination.

Version 3.2 is a recommended update for all ControllerMate v3 users.

ControllerMate v3.1.1 Update Released

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces an update to ControllerMate. Version 3.1.1 includes a couple of bug fixes.

The fixes in version 3.1.1 include:

  • Eliminated the possibility that building blocks will be updated in the wrong order when outputs are connected to multiple inputs.
  • Fixed a bug which allowed ControllerMate to lose track of the built-in keyboard and trackpad on PowerBooks.

Version 3.1.1 is a recommended update for all ControllerMate v3 users.

ControllerMate v3.1 Update Released

Thursday, August 4, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces an update to ControllerMate.

Version 3.1 adds the ability to execute AppleScripts directly from within ControllerMate. Three different types of AppleScript building blocks allow users to execute a script and then use that script’s result as a trigger for further ControllerMate actions. This new feature enables users to unleash the power of AppleScript at the touch of a button.

In addition to the new AppleScript building blocks, ControllerMate v3.1 includes the following additions:

  • The outputs from building blocks may now be attached to any number of inputs to other building blocks. This allows a single value (for example, the result from an AppleScript) to be evaluated by several other building blocks.
  • “Quick Help” panels have been added to the Inspector window to give new users a quick description of how the currently selected building block is used.

Existing ControllerMate functionality which has been improved includes:

  • Start-up time has been improved, especially when a large number of building blocks have been defined.
  • User-interface elements in the Inspector window have been made more responsive for some types of building blocks.
  • The Keystrokes Palette window responds more quickly when dragging items.

ControllerMate v3 Released

Saturday, July 16, 2005

Today, OrderedBytes announces the third major release of ControllerMate.

Version 3 greatly expands upon the various types of actions that can be created. ControllerMate can now control the position of the cursor on the screen, simulate mouse buttons and scroll wheels, combine button states using standard combinational logic, and instruct the Finder to open applications, files and folders.

New to ControllerMate v3 are 10 additional types of building blocks:

  • Cursor building blocks control or adjust the position of the cursor on the screen.
  • Mouse Button building blocks simulate mouse buttons.
  • Scroll Wheel building blocks simulate scroll wheels.
  • AND, NOT, OR, and XOR building blocks combine states using standard combinational logic.
  • Value Selector building blocks provide an easy way to specify individual hatswitch values.
  • Finder Item building blocks instruct the Finder to launch an application, or open a file or folder.
  • Safety building blocks provide a means of resetting ControllerMate’s drivers.

Existing ControllerMate functionality which has been improved includes:

  • Page previews are now shown in the editor window when a group is selected. Clicking on a preview will open the associated page.
  • An indicator has been added to Button, Axis, and Hatswitch building blocks which shows the current state of that block’s modifiers.
  • Power and screen brightness keystrokes have been added to the Keystrokes Palette window.

Many users of ControllerMate v2 have provided amazing feedback and suggestions for future versions of ControllerMate. In recognition of this, all v2 registration keys will be recognized as v3 keys. Users who have registered v2 will not need to re-register for v3.
